Description

This 8-hour course, titled "Medication Administration in Midwifery: A Focused Approach on Oklahoma's Formulary," is designed specifically for midwife licensure candidates in Oklahoma. It comprises a 4-hour online theoretical component followed by a 4-hour in-person practical session. The course covers the complete list of medications as per the Oklahoma Licensed Midwife Program, including Oxygen, Local anesthetics, Rh immunoglobulin, Antibiotics for GBS, Vitamin K, Ophthalmic preparations, Epipen, Antihemorrhagic medications, Hepatitis B vaccine, and IV fluids. Students will gain a thorough understanding of each medication's pharmacological aspects, legal and ethical considerations in administration, and emergency response skills. The practical session focuses on hands-on experience in injection techniques and IV fluid administration, ensuring candidates are well-prepared for safe and effective medication management in their midwifery practice. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate that satisfies the requirements of the Oklahoma Licensed Midwife Program.
