Birth work has always been part of Marlita’s life. She was born at home to a mother who was a traditional midwife, and she later chose midwife-supported home births for her own two children.

Marlita has attended births since 2000 and has participated in more than 1,000 births in a range of roles. She began as a doula, became a midwife assistant in 2009, and entered student-midwife training in 2020. She earned the Certified Professional Midwife credential through NARM and became licensed in Oklahoma in 2025.

As a Licensed Midwife with Tulsa Birth Center, Marlita believes families deserve to feel informed, supported, and respected throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Her care blends traditional birth wisdom with modern evidence-based practice. She uses tools including acupressure, rebozo, TENS therapy, and the peanut ball to ease labor and support progress.
